WSJ: Turkey Threatens to Cut Ties With Israel

Turkey threatened to formally cut diplomatic ties with Israel if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu doesn't publicly apologize for the high-seas military action against a pro-Palestinian flotilla this week.

Turkey's ambassador to the U.S., Namik Tan, also demanded in a news conference Friday that the Israeli government consent to an international investigation into the commando operation, in which nine Turkish activists died on a Turkish-flagged ship, the Mavi Marmara.

Mr. Tan, a seasoned diplomat and former envoy to Israel, said Israel must also take concrete steps to ease its military blockade of the Gaza Strip.
