Obama - already worse than Carter - interferes with US diplomacy and war in Iraq before elected

I wanted to stop posting about US politics for a while, because I felt I was drifting into areas which I hadn't intended for this site. I had to post this today. This, in my opinion, could be one of the biggest things to happen thus far. Who is elected in November will have great impact in the war against Jihadists (falsely called a war on terror). Obama's recent actions are just too dangerous to disregard.

Found this on Hotair.com:

AFP:Obama camp hits back at Iraq double-talk claim
In the New York Post, conservative Iranian-born columnist Amir Taheri quoted Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari as saying the Democrat made the demand when he visited Baghdad in July, while publicly demanding an early withdrawal.

“He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington,” Zebari said in an interview, according to Taheri.

“However, as an Iraqi, I prefer to have a security agreement that regulates the activities of foreign troops, rather than keeping the matter open,” Zebari reportedly said. …

Obama’s national security spokeswoman Wendy Morigi said Taheri’s article bore “as much resemblance to the truth as a McCain campaign commercial.”

In fact, Obama had told the Iraqis that they should not rush through a “Strategic Framework Agreement” governing the future of US forces until after President George W. Bush leaves office, she said.

I don't have much to add - I don't care about the beckering on whether or not a reporter was truthful, not truthful enough, or "took it out of context". Although I'm not a lawyer - or an expert on US constitution, I believe the following statement by Ed Morrissey to be spot on:

The Senate should investigate this as a gross violation of the Constitution and the separation of powers between the branches of government.

We can bet that this Senate, won't do Jack Sh@@, Democrat control senate would not investigate their presidential candidate two months before an election. Because justice is not what this Senate is all about.

I know that today the economy takes center stage in the news and the electoral discussion, but to me diplomacy and security sound like a bigger issue. Politicians can talk all they want, they didn't build Wall Street, they never changed it. SEC regulations are violated daily and there hadn't been a senate hearing in ages. The Obama camp can throw mud at McCain all they want about the economy, some will buy into that - but there are greater issues at hand.

Experience matters - demagogy should be penalized, and crossing constitutional separations should be severely reprimanded.

At this point, it is not yet clear what official American negotiations Senator Obama tried to undermine with Iraqi leaders, but the possibility of such actions is unprecedented. It should be concerning to all that he reportedly urged that the democratically-elected Iraqi government listen to him rather than the US administration in power. If news reports are accurate, this is an egregious act of political interference by a presidential candidate seeking political advantage overseas. Senator Obama needs to reveal what he said to Iraq's Foreign Minister during their closed door meeting. The charge that he sought to delay the withdrawal of Americans from Iraq raises serious questions about Senator Obama's judgment and it demands an explanation.

As mentioned above, Obama's camp revealed - and it's not any better than what Taheri suggested.

  1. Spot on that the current senate would not touch this, or any other matter concerning their own ilk. it should be investigated, even if the election had to be postponed because of it. obama's own camp's response clearly validates the accusation. I wonder if we could ask the department of justice? email them, askdoj@usdoj.gov. If I have the incorrect link, please don't simply give up- research it and follow through. write the senate members as well anyway, every one of them. and the white house. Bush has failed on his share of points, but there certainly were a lot of corrupt folks jailed during his tenure (including his own pals from enron, if I am not mistaken).
Thanks for following through with this story when the dem press corp of cnn and the rest would not.
