iFascism an iPhone hit in Italy

Hey, isn't Apple keeping a tight hand on which applications are approved? So this iNazism is iApproved?! 1000 downloads a day!

Holocaust Descendants Livid over iPhone’s Mussolini Speeches
Speeches of former Fascist dictator Benito Mussolini are the new rage in Italy, where Apple's iPhones include an application for downloading audio, video and text of 100 of his speeches. Mussolini introduced anti-Semitic laws in 1938 was an ally with Nazi Germany.

The application was launched in January, the same month of Holocaust Remembrance Day and shortly after Pope Benedict XVI made an historic visit to Rome’s central synagogue.

Italians have downloaded the speeches at the rate of 1,000 a day, infuriating local Jews and descendants of Holocaust victims and survivors elsewhere. The “iMussolini” application is subtitled "the man who changed the history of our country” and is more popular than a video game based on the film Avatar.

Mussolini’s granddaughter Alessandra Mussolini, a far-right politician, defended the application, arguing that "whether you like it or not, my grandfather's speeches are part of history."

Elan Steinberg, vice-president of the American Gathering of Holocaust Survivors and their Descendants, stated, "It is a disgrace and a surrender to crass commercialism that the Apple computing company has approved the release of this 'app' through their online iTunes store. This is an insult to the memory of all victims of Nazism and Fascism, Jew and non-Jew, and should be condemned for its offence to decency and conscience."

Former head of the Jewish community in Rome, Tullia Zevi, said the “app” was part of the "the slide towards legitimizing fascism and the rehabilitation of Mussolini.”

iPhone officials said they will not remove the application but will remove offensive fascist slogans that some users have posted in stores selling the phones. Luigi Marino, the creator of the application, argued that all of the iPhone speeches are available at libraries and that he is not an apologist for fascism.

However, historians in recent years have published revisionist views of Mussolini, whose image has gained popularity in recent years on calendars, T-shirts and souvenirs.

China puts sanctions on American companies, refuse sanctions on Iran

When all masks are off. Trade war approaching?

China threatens sanctions over U.S. arms deal
China has threatened to slap sanctions on American companies that sell arms to its rival Taiwan as part of a range of punitive actions Beijing is taking to protest the deal.

China also summoned U.S. ambassador Jon Huntsman to express its anger over Washington's announcement, the official Chinese news agency Xinhua said, citing the Foreign Ministry.

Beijing also suspended plans for visits between the Chinese and U.S. militaries and postponed a high-level arms control meeting, it announced Saturday, following Washington's $6.4-billion arms deal with Taiwan.

China's Defense Ministry said the decision was made "in consideration of the serious harm and impacts on Sino-U.S. military relations" brought about by the arms deal, according to Xinhua.

"China will make further judgments as appropriate," Xinhua reported.

China had already complained to the United States about the deal, announced Friday by the Obama administration.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister He Yafei called it a "rude interference in China's internal affairs, severely endangering China's national security" and said China expressed its "strong indignation."

The arms sale includes 60 Black Hawk helicopters, totaling $3.1 billion; 114 advanced Patriot air defense missiles; a pair of Osprey mine-hunting ships; and dozens of advanced communications systems.

US: Hezbollah gearing for war in violation of UNSC resolution

What a shock - UNSC 1701 is as useless and teethless as predicted...

(image from a page in French telling some history of Hezbollah)
U.S. official: Hezbollah arms flow may signal plans for war with Israel
The U.S. is concerned that the continued flow of arms to the Hezbollah militant organization could prompt a war between Israel and Lebanon, State Department official Jeff Feltman said in remarks published Sunday by the London-based Al-Hayat daily.

Feltman, who serves as Assistant Secretary of U.S. State Department's Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, told the daily that the U.S. had no evidence of any Israeli plan to attack its northern neighbor.

Nevertheless, Feltman said he was growing increasingly worried by reports describing the quantity and types of weapons being smuggled to the terrorist organization in clear violation of United Nations Resolution 1701, which put an end to the 2006 war.

The UN resolution clearly demanded a weapons-free south Lebanon, said Feltman, but the world had yet to see that put into play.

With regard to the possibility of a future peace deal between Lebanon and Israel, Feltman said that he believed Lebanon preferred to see a Palestinian-Israeli agreement reached first.

When asked about negotiations between Syria and Israel, Feltman said U.S. special Mideast envoy George Mitchell had passed on to Jerusalem a message from Damascus on the matter, but that progress was slow.

Feltman also said that the U.S. wanted to see the Palestinian Authority resume negotiations with Israel in order to resolve the issue of West Bank settlements. Once borders were determined, said Feltman, the issue of settlements would be easier to solve.

Obama lost patience with Palestinians? Refuse talks because Netanyahu man of peace?

Obama lost patience with Palestinians? Refuse talks because Netanyahu man of peace? Several different options as to why Arabs refuse talks debated below.

I actually prefer the answer at door number 3, as proposed by Carl in Jerusalem:

Israel Matzav: 'Palestinians' afraid Netanyahu wants to cut a deal?
Sever Plocker on why the 'Palestinians' refuse to negotiate with Netanyahu.
The difficulty to explain the current Palestinian position has reached all the way to the White House. Those who carefully read the full Obama interview with Time Magazine realize that he has lost patience with the Palestinians’ elusive conduct. Officials around Obama have spoken harshly: They charged that the Palestinians humiliated the president and screwed up his policy.

What prompts the Palestinian leadership to adopt such stubborn refusal and shun the initiative of a US Administration that may be the most convenient for them? The Palestinians do not wish to negotiate with Netanyahu because they perceive him as a practical politician seeking practical solutions; this is the kind of mess the current Palestinian leadership wishes to stay away from. It doesn’t even want to get close to it.

Palestinian leaders did not mind talks with former PM Olmert, because they knew he had no mandate to finalize any deal, and certainly not a “final-status agreement” which the talks focused on. They in fact liked the futile talks and arguments. Yet when the possibility of a practical agreement first came up and they had to respond to it, they left the talks and did not return.

In the backdrop to the talks with Olmert and Livni was the Bush Administration, which the entire Arab world loved to hate, and whose involvement could be used to explain the failure. Yet with Obama and Bibi negotiations can take a different path. Both of them are politicians who seek results and who are unwilling to waste time on verbal and ideological quarrels.
I disagree. The reason that the 'Palestinians' are not talking to Netanyahu is that they know he will not offer them 100% of what they seek. And they haven't prepared their 'people' for anything else.

OK, another option - they are afraid to expose how much they are cooperating with Israel and the US while their population is steaming with desires to reignite the middle east with more bloodshed. While talking, they create the illusion of being friendly with Israel, while not - they try to pretend to be Hamas.

Door #4: If they do reach any agreement, and have any further election/control over area - they are afraid Hamas would swiftly take over and once again throw their asses off the next tallest buildings as they do in Gaza and Teheran.

It all boils down to them shitting their panties with fear from Hamas, while doing their best to keep some status quo which keeps them alive.

French Muslims attack Imam for being friendly to Jews

Tolerance and brotherly love by the usual suspects.

By Arutz Sheva: French Mosque Raided by Islamic Radicals
he head of a mosque in Drancy, a northeastern suburb of Paris, was targeted Monday by a gang of Islamic radicals who interrupted the services and threatened to “liquidate him, this imam of the Jews.”

The mob, about 80-strong, burst into the French mosque, halting a meeting of some 200 other imams led by Hassen Chalghoumi, who has consistently spoken out against Islamic extremism.

The extremists called the Muslim spiritual leader an “infidel” (heathen) and a “renegade.”

At the time, Chalghoumi was chairing a meeting of the Conference of Imams, an organization established just last year to promote better relations between the various faiths in France, especially Jews and Muslims.

“They started to cry Allahu Akbar',” Chalghouri told reporters after the incident. “Then they insulted me, my mosque, the Jewish community and the [French] Republic. They left after an hour and a half.”

Despite the anti-Semitic epithets, however, the attack apparently also stemmed from Chalghoumi's liberal positions on the status of women in Islam. At age 36, he is known in France for his interfaith work with Jewish leaders and his activism with Muslim youth, but is also an especially controversial figure on the issue of women's dress in Islam.

O/T: Did you notice Obama's words yesterday in SOTU regarding 'reaching out to Muslim communities to enhance Science'? I heard that and discussed with my wife what the heck was he referring to. Reaching out to members of a religion of dark ages to advance science? WTF does that mean?!

The boy who cried wolf, to get nuked and the world winks-winks, nudges-nudge

Excellent op-ed on Jerusalem Post regarding the mess that speculation on WHEN does Iran acquire nuclear weapons, the damage it has done, and the very real danger still at the door.

Crying wolf on Iran
Iran's Press TV, January 26, reporting that Russia and China continue to oppose sanctions

Only the mullahs know if Iran is "hell-bent" on starting a nuclear war. Jerusalem opposes Iran's quest for atomic weapons not only for what the regime might do, but because of what it is - religiously fanatical, violently autocratic and dangerously myopic.

Israelis worry about the rational decision-making capabilities of leaders imbued with apocalyptic visions; men who dementedly deny the destruction of six million Jews during the Shoah even as they cold-bloodedly promise to wipe the Jewish state off the map.

We take these threats at face value.

Israel opposes an Iranian bomb because from Lebanon and Gaza to Yemen and Afghanistan, Teheran is a destabilizing power. The mullahs have created a terror network that extends from the Middle East and Africa to South America. Nuclear weapons would make this belligerent clique even more dangerous, prodding Arab countries into seeking atomic weapons to counter Persian imperialism.

A REPORT in this week's Der Spiegel, evidently based on German intelligence sources, has ratcheted-up fears that Iran could "produce a primitive, truck-sized version of the bomb this year," and could deploy a nuclear warhead "sometime between 2012 and 2014."

These assessments were reportedly garnered by experts after analyzing a mysterious laptop smuggled out of Iran years ago; debriefings of Ali Reza Asgari, Iran's former deputy defense minister, who reportedly defected in 2007; and further debriefings of Shahram Amiri, an Iranian nuclear scientist, who may have defected during a pilgrimage to Mecca in June 2009. Der Spiegel also raised the possibility that Iran tested a detonating mechanism more than six years ago using non-nuclear materials.

Paradoxically, ongoing speculation about when Iran will go nuclear - often generated by leaks from parties whose agendas are not known - has done little to galvanize the international community toward blocking the mullahs.

WTF?! US removes Hamas members from terror list

You know what? That's it - I can't give Obama any more benefit of a doubt. I wonder how much more damage can he cause in his remaining 3 years?

US Treasury removes all but one Hamas member from terror list

Remember in April 2009, Barack Obama requested a new law that would allow U.S. funds directly to a Hamas-Fatah “government.” The latest via US Terror Blacklist Whitewashes Hamas, Enables Funding (INN.com):

The United States Treasury has taken all but one member of Hamas off the international list of terrorists, thus enabling funds from the European Union to enter Hamas-controlled Gaza.

It is an open secret that large sums of money from the EU flow into Gaza in the guise of humanitarian aid and salaries for officials, but are actually funneled into the coffers of Hamas, which controls Gaza with an iron grip. This method of transferring funds into terrorists’ hands could have been blocked by an international lawsuit, but according to journalist Avi Tarango, the United States Treasury has made this impossible by removing all but one Hamas man – Deputy Chairman of the Political Bureau, Musa Abu Marzouk – from the list of international terrorists.

The updated terrorist list, published last week, takes up 443 pages. However, according to Tarango, who went over the list, none of the tens of thousands of people who form Hamas is mentioned – other than Abu Marzuk, who resides in Damascus. The terrorist list is meant for distribution in the world banking system, where the transfer of funds to anyone on the list is prohibited.

“Musa Abu-Marzouk’s presence on the list means that whoever tries to transfer money to him personally will be rejected by the world banking system and be accused of funding terrorism, but the transfer of funds to any other Hamas man will not arouse suspicion,” he explained.

By not investigating groups like Viva Palestina and Al Maghrib who openly raise money for Hamas-controlled Gaza, the U.S. has left loopholes large enough to drive aid caravans through.

Obama drops charges against 9/11 terrorists

A technical step towards charging them again in civil courts. Still - as bad as it sounds.

Who's making decisions on national security here? TOTUS? Holder? Is it so hard to speak before tiny tots you need to read it from a teleprompter at a mobile podium? What The Fark?!

Charges Withdrawn in Military Commissions for Sept. 11 Suspects
Charges against 9/11 suspects were dropped "without prejudice" -- a procedural move that allows federal officials to transfer the men to trial in a civilian court and also leaves the door open to again bringing charges in military commissions.

All charges have been withdrawn in the military commissions against the five suspects in the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks being held at Guantanamo Bay.

The charges were dropped "without prejudice," according to the Defense Department -- a procedural move that allows federal officials to transfer the men to trial in a civilian court and also leaves the door open, if necessary, to bring charges again in military commissions.

"This action comes in light of the announcement by the attorney general of the United States that the Department of Justice intends to pursue a prosecution ... in federal court in the Southern District of New York," says a release from the Defense Department.

Click here to see the file dropping charges against the alleged 9/11 conspirators.

Currently no suspects stand charged in the terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people on Sept. 11. U.S. officials sent notification to Congress and families of 9/11 victims Friday afternoon. The order dropping charges was made Thursday.

"This action is a procedural step, which is part of a normal process, when an alternative forum is chosen," according to the Defense Department.

The Obama administration decided in November to remove the five suspects -- including self-professed 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed -- from a military trial after $100 million was spent on their prosecution and on the construction of a state-of-the-art courthouse at Guantanamo Bay built specifically to facilitate their military commissions.

One source familiar with the decision told Fox News that officials have not given the all-important 45-day transfer notification to Congress, indicating that the men will not be on U.S. soil imminently.

But as of Friday afternoon, the five suspects -- Mohammed and alleged co-conspirators Walid bin Attash, Ramzi Binalshibh, Ali Abdul Aziz Ali, and Mustafa al-Hawsawi -- were one step closer to a civilian trial in New York.

Similar actions were taken in May 2009 against Ahmed Ghailani, an alleged Al Qaeda member and participant in the 1998 bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. Ghailani was then transferred to trial in federal court in New York, the first Guantanamo detainee to face civilian charges in the U.S.

Israel pays U.N. $10.5 million over Gaza damage

And who's paying damages to Israeli citizens hurt by terror attacks? Those carried out by employees of the UN in Gaza?

What exactly do these kids learn at UN funded schools?

Israel pays U.N. $10.5 million over Gaza damage
Israel has paid the United Nations $10.5 million for property damage and injuries the world body suffered during Israel's attack on Gaza a year ago, a U.N. spokesman and Israeli diplomats said on Friday.

"With this payment, the United Nations has agreed that the financial issues relating to those incidents ... are concluded," spokesman Martin Nesirky told reporters.

A senior Israeli diplomat at the United Nations, who asked not to be named, said, "We have decided to make an ex gratia (without liability) payment to the United Nations and we have indeed done it."

"It has to do specifically with damages done to the United Nations," whose Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) cares for Palestinian refugees in Gaza and elsewhere in the Middle East, the diplomat said. He and Nesirky both quoted the figure of $10.5 million.

U.N. officials said the world body had made claims for damage done during previous Israeli military operations, but they believed this was the first time Israel had paid.

A U.N. inquiry last year put the cost of damage to seven U.N. buildings in Gaza during the December 2008-January 2009 conflict at $11.2 million, almost all of it caused by Israeli forces. Loss adjusters hired by the U.N. subsequently reduced that by $750,000, Nesirky said.

NO RESPONSIBILITY

The main damage to U.N. property in Gaza came on January 15, 2009, when Israeli shells, some containing the incendiary substance white phosphorus, hit an UNRWA compound, badly damaging a warehouse and training center. Several U.N.-run schools were hit in other strikes.

Israel said it attacked Gaza to end rocket launches by Palestinian Hamas militants into Israel, and that damage to U.N. premises was caused unintentionally when its troops responded to Palestinian fire.

The Jewish state, however, agreed to consider a U.N. reimbursement request sent in July. Nesirky said that claim related both to the property damage and to minor injuries suffered by 11 U.N. employees.

Peace Nobel Winner: I overestimated my peace spell powers

Years of Dungeons and Dragons practice didn't help 'the chosen one' in his 'I can heal the world' bid.

Trying to discount his own actions of messing up potential peace talks by proclaiming he is about to arm twist Israel, in this interview Obama blames Israel and Arabs equally for his own failures. I'm sorry - it wasn't the Israelis who hadn't taken bold moves over the last 20 years and suffered painful terrorist attacks as reward. Obama is as delusional as ever. At least he's realizing that he's not about to achieve a thing.

Obama: Expectations for Middle East peace too high
US president tells Time Magazine Israel, Palestinians unwilling to make the bold gestures. Mitchell's visit to region clouded by tough statements from both sides accusing the other of cynicism

President Barack Obama said his administration overestimated its ability to persuade the Israelis and Palestinians to resume meaningful peace talks.

Obama said both parties have been unwilling to make the bold gestures needed to move the process forward. If the US had anticipated that earlier, the American leader said he might not have raised his expectations so high.

Both sides — the Israelis and the Palestinians — have found that the political environment, the nature of their coalitions or the divisions within their societies, were such that it was very hard for them to start engaging in a meaningful conversation. And I think that we overestimated our ability to persuade them to do so when their politics ran contrary to that," the American leader said in an interview with Time Magazine published Thursday.

"From (Palestinian President Mahmoud) Abbas' perspective, he's got Hamas looking over his shoulder and, I think, an environment generally within the Arab world that feels impatient with any process. And on the Israeli front — although the Israelis, I think, after a lot of time showed a willingness to make some modifications in their policies, they still found it very hard to move with any bold gestures," said Obama.

UK starts new plan to fight terror, shockingly - Muslims oppose

A case of the 'STFU', not to be confused with the 'ACLU'... actually - a constant case of the 'STFU'

Loyal Muslims expressing their patriotism in London.
Muslim police blast official anti-terror strategy
Muslim police have attacked the government's anti-terrorism strategy for triggering an upsurge in Islamophobia and deepening divisions in communities.

The National Association of Muslim Police (NAMP) warned that the Prevent programme, which aims to combat violent extremism, was "stigmatising" Muslims by focusing on "so-called Islamist extremism."

The group said the real threat came from the growing far-right movement.

"The hatred towards Muslims has grown to a level that defies all logic and is an affront to British values," said the association in a written submission to a parliamentary commission examining the anti-terror initiative.

"The climate is such that Muslims are subject to daily abuse in a manner that would be ridiculed by Britain, were this to occur anywhere else."

There may be a "connection in the rise of Islamophobia and our Prevent programme as it feeds on the stereotypes that the media and some rightwing parties promote," the group said.

These stereotypes were that "all Muslims are evil and non-trustworthy", added the officers.

Community cohesion may have suffered as a result of the strategy, said the association, which has more than 2,000 members and was founded in July 2007.

They also highlighted the growth of rightwing movements as a threat that needed greater attention.

"The impact and growth of the far-right and its ability to carry out terror acts cannot and should not be underestimated," said the association.

Iranian tourist minister invites Israelis to tour his awesome nation

My only conclusion from this is, they have great weed in Iran - and that guy's a big pot-head.

Israeli, Iranian tourism ministers meet
Tourism Minister Stas Meseznikov was in Madrid on Wednesday to formally open the Israeli exhibit at the International Tourism Trade Fair. While there he met, talked and shook hands with his Iranian counterpart.

"As opposed to the cold reaction I received from the Syrian representatives when I approached their stall, the Iranians came out to greet me," said Meseznikov in a phone interview from Madrid.

"While the Syrians turned their backs to us and made it clear that we were not welcome, the Iranian exhibit manager shook my hand warmly and gave me a tour of the Iranian booth and told me about the sites they had on display. He then invited me, informally of course, to visit Iran so that I would get a chance to see the archeological sites and ancient cities first-hand. I told him I sincerely hoped I and the rest of the citizens of Israel would have the opportunity to visit Iran, provided the relationship between our countries allows for it."

Meseznikov stressed that the Iranians knew that they were speaking to Israeli officials. "They didn't hide or scurry away, they remained and talked to us pleasantly."

Meseznikov said that he also had the chance to meet and shake hands with the Iranian tourism minister, Hamid Baghaei, when the representatives of all the participating countries took part in a formal ceremony and the two stood next to each other.

"I introduced myself and we shook hands and talked for a while," said the minister. "I've always said that tourism, which tends to stress the positive over the negative and shows the pleasant side of the region, can be a bridge for peace."

Political earthquake in the USA

I try not to take political sides at this blog - because it blurs the message I do try to convey. Sometimes, I can't help my self. I live, work and will most probably never leave the USA. I care.

This kind of news cannot be ignored, Kennedy's seat was given to a Republican in Massachusetts. Will the fellers at White House get the message? I believe it is quite an earthquake in DC right now.

Abbas: Only Difference from Hamas Is that Fatah Is in Power

Not for long....
Actually, there are a few more differences:
* Communist roots vs. "Islamic Extremism"
* Hamas being now nothing but a proxy for Iran, while Fatah is an American trained and funded Mafia
* One has a beard like bin-Laden, the other a mustache like Stalin and Hitler
* One has sent 0 aid to Haiti, the other trying to persecute Israeli Heros providing medical aid to Haiti in intl' world courts
* One likes goats, the other likes mules. Ok... that's where it ends.

Abbas: Only Difference from Hamas Is that Fatah Is in Power
Palestinian Authority PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said in a speech Sunday that his party’s being in power is the only difference between it and the rival Hamas terrorist faction. “The Palestinian Authority is the legitimate authority and that is the difference,” he told a party conference.

In a particularly hard-line speech, he boasted that the Arab leaders in Judea, Samaria and Gaza “has not offered any concessions from May 1988 until today.” In a further eradication of the American roadmap, he claimed that Israel and not the PA proposed temporary borders for a future PA state.

The Roadmap originally provided a three-step plan towards establishing the PA as a country, with temporary borders as a second step. Condoleezza Rice, as U.S. Secretary of State two years ago, convinced Israel to skip over the first phase, which called for an end of incitement and violence by the PA.

In his speech, Abbas defended his honoring an Arab woman for the worst terrorist attack in Israel’s history. He and PA Prime Minister Salam Fayyad last month celebrated the 50th birthday of terrorist Dalal Mugrahbi, who orchestrated and later was killed in the 1978 Coastal Road attack in which 37 Israelis, including 10 children, were massacred by a bus hijacker.

Abbas and Fayyad honored her by naming a Ramallah town square after her, calling her a martyr.

In his speech to the Fatah Revolutionary Council, Abbas maintained that he will continue to hunt down and persecute Arabs who violate the PA law against selling property to Jews. Several Arabs have been executed without trial for land deals with Jews.

He also reiterated that he will not agree to resume talks with Israel for a new PA state until Jerusalem halts all building for Jews in eastern Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria.

He said the partial 10-month freeze instituted three months ago by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu “is frankly an unacceptable…position rejected by us, and we cannot go back to negotiations if Israel stays in this position, and if the U.S. has been unable to persuade Israel not to do so."

Speaking later in the day to reporters, Abbas charged that the United States softened its stand against Israeli construction. He explained that U.S. President Barack Obama last year "demanded the full suspension of the Israeli settlement, but now there is a fallback in the U.S. stance in facing the Israeli government's rejection" to freeze building.

Syria puts missiles in Lebanon aimed at Israel

Lebanon isn't a sovereign country. It's a Iran and Syria's doormat.

Report: Hizbullah Deployed Syrian-Made Missiles
Hizbullah has reportedly recently deployed advanced Syrian-made surface-to-surface missiles on Lebanese territory that are capable of hitting almost any target in Israel.
The report carried by the British defense weekly magazine "Jane's" said the projectiles are a clone of Iran's Fateh-110 missile which has a range of 250 kilometers and carries a 500-kg warhead capable of causing significant damage and distinguishing the levels of precision of the objectives.

Jane's military correspondent Alon Ben-David quoted Israeli military sources as confirming that the type M-600 missiles were deployed in Lebanon for the first time.

"Syria puts no limits on arms supplies to Hizbullah, and therefore, we must understand that any kind of combat weapons in the possession of the Syrian army will ultimately reach Hizbullah," Ben-David quoted an Israeli military source as saying.

Ben-David said Israel has expressed concern over Syrian weapons supplies to Hizbullah, including Russia-made medium-range surface-to-sea missiles type SS-N-26 Yakhont and defense system SA-2.

He pointed out that since 2006 Israel has continued to warn that it will "see the deployment of new air defense systems in Lebanon as a change in the balance of power in the region."

Drums of war heard loud and clear.

Who's on terror list? Muslim with explosive in crotch? Nope, 8 yr old cub scout

Because nothing here makes sense. And these issues have been known for years, yet politicians are more focused on canceling charges for Black Panthers, bringing terrorists to NY, mirandizing enemies on the battle field and other crazy loony crap.

Eight-Year-Old Boy on Terrorism Watch List
Travel is a hassle for an 8-year-old Cub Scout from New Jersey.

That's because Mikey Hicks shares the same name of a person who has drawn the suspicion of the Homeland Security Department.

His mother tells The New York Times she sensed trouble when her son was a baby and she couldn't get a seat for him at a Florida airport. She says airline officials explained his name "was on the list."

He was patted down as a 2-years-old at Newark Liberty International Airport, and continues to face extra scrutiny from security every time he flies.

The newspaper says the boy's name appears to be among 13,500 on the "selectee" list, which sets off a high level of security screening.

Transportation Security Administration spokesman James Fotenos says in the coming months, the agency will cross-check names with birth dates and gender.

Palestinians spreading the peace in Lebanon

Hey Lebanon, welcome to the Palestinian peace process...

Palestinian fighting spreads in Lebanon
A row between the Palestinian Islamic Jihad and a clan affiliated with Fatah has turned violent as both sides claim control over a mosque in a Beirut suburb.

The Furqan Mosque, located in the southern suburb of the Lebanese capital, has become a new battleground for the intra-Palestinian struggle.

Two people were lightly wounded in a brawl between the parties on Tuesday, according to Lebanese news reports.

Tensions between the two sides began around two weeks ago when the Islamic Jihad decided to take control of the mosque, which was renovated with charity money the organization collected.

The Al-Ashwah family, which is affiliated with the Fatah movement, was consequently barred from running the mosque even though they have controlled it since the building was constructed on their land.

The brawl is highlighting broader inter-factional differences between the various Palestinian political divisions.

Druze sign official surrender to Hezballah, Lebanon gearing for next Iranian proxy bloody nosed war

Garbagestan, I coined it - google it.

Jumblatt and Hezbollah seal Lebanon reconciliation accord
Hezbollah finalised a reconciliation agreement on Sunday with Druze leader Walid Jumblatt that has diffused tensions between the two Lebanese parties after deadly clashes in May 2008.

Leaders of the two sides emphasised their commitment to national unity in speeches broadcast on Hezbollah's television station Al-Manar, with Jumblatt stressing the importance of ending the tensions.

"If the fighting had spread... the country would have fallen into a vicious cycle of violence that would have put an end to the co-existence" of Lebanon's multiple religious communities, Jumblatt said at the reconciliation meeting in Shweifat, southeast of Beirut.

Hezbollah MP Mohammad Raad praised Jumblatt's courage.

He said the partnership was of "strategic interest" and that the two parties would "remain united on different issues, against the (Israeli) enemy that threatens us," reading a speech on behalf of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah.

The agreement crowns reconciliation efforts which were launched after the deadly clashes between Lebanon's political majority and minority blocs, the worst since the country's 1975-1990 civil war.

The fighting, which took place in the capital and other parts of Lebanon, pitted the Shiite party and its allies against supporters of current Prime Minister Saad Hariri and Jumblatt's Progressive Socialist Party.

Around 100 people were killed in a week.

Since August, Jumblatt has gradually distanced himself from the Western-backed parliamentary majority in Lebanon's national unity government which Hariri formed in November.

The formation came after more than four months of tough negotiations with Hariri's Hezbollah-led rivals.

No, I'm no Johnny Depp, and no psychedelic drugs involved...

Guess the crappy hotel to match this 'decor'....

Finally! Internet! In Las Vegas airport, soon I'll be with my family in snow covered Michigan.

I was unfortunate enough to stay at Sahara while attending CES, for your amusement - here's the decor I had to endure in my unlit room (the room lighting was not working, and no one cared to fix despite complaints). Another side affect of staying in Sahara, their 'in room internet service' works right up to the point where you try to pay them. And then it dies.

I'd like to congratulate my office's IT department, for blocking me from using the internet for a couple of weeks now - and while I'm on the road - blocking my work email. Great Job guys - I wouldn't personally hire you to serve me fries at McDonald.

Other Topic But Important
So - I'm trying to catch up to my blogger friend's postings at Zip's, and found this charming nugget:
Blatant Anti-Semitism on C-Span: "All These Jews With Way Too Much Power Pushing America Into Wars With Muslims"...
A caller on a C-Span interview program Monday complained about "all these Jews" having "way too much power" in America and pushing the U.S. into wars with the Muslim world. He found his comments echoed and expanded upon by the studio guest.

Michael Scheuer, the former director of a CIA unit assigned to track down Osama Bin-Laden, calmly expressed the view that American soldiers are now dying in Iraq for the sake of Israelis. He further claimed that any debate of American support for Israel is squelched in the public sphere.

The interviewer for C-Span's Washington Journal programdid not react to the blatantly anti-Semitic exchange. Several other callers praised Scheuer for his position regarding Israel, adding their own condemnation of the Jewish State and its supporters.

May I suggest people flood Fox News with requests to stop interviewing this anti-semite Michael Scheuer? I know he's a big 'buddy-buddy' with Beck and Oreilly. Somehow they still didn't get the memo...

USSR in the USA, Yon arrested for refusing intrusive unconstitutional interrogation at airport

I'm still very disconnected from news, as my office's internet is blocked - and I don't spend as much time online at home (TV couch potato - that's me).

With that, and before I leave to Las Vegas - I'll post a last post for about another two weeks.

America - how the mighty have fallen. You're a Muslim whose father calls you a terrorist, buy a one way ticket, no luggage? Come aboard! No questions asked - what smoking gun?! We're smoking weed here at the government.

On the other hand, if you're a military reporter/blogger who doesn't answer intrusive and unconstitutional questions by a nobody with a badge at the airport - handcuffs and detention for you. (but don't call it arrest)

Milblogger Michael Yon Handcuffed at Seattle Airport
Milblogger and author Michael Yon was handcuffed today at the Seattle airport for not telling the TSA agent his net income.
He posted this on his facebook page:

Got arrested at the Seattle airport for refusing to say how much money I make. (The uniformed ones say I was not “arrested”, but they definitely handcuffed me.) Their videos and audios should show that I was polite, but simply refused questions that had nothing to do with national security. Port authority police eve…ntually came — they were professionals — and rescued me from the border bullies.

And, here’s his follow-up post:

When they handcuffed me, I said that no country has ever treated me so badly. Not China. Not Vietnam. Not Afghanistan. Definitely not Singapore or India or Nepal or Germany, not Brunei, not Indonesia, or Malaysia, or Kuwait or Qatar or United Arab Emirates. No county has treated me with the disrespect can that can be expected from our border bullies.

What The Fark?!

Moonbat Photo of the Day

Women for Gaza murdering Jews or something... demonstration in Tel Aviv. Because it's feminism that drives them to support genocidal homicidal regimes.
