For all his high-minded talk of bipartisanship and common purpose, Barack Obama was always aware that Republicans in Congress weren't going to simply set aside their philosophical differences and embrace the new President's ambitious agenda. But he had reason to hope that Democrats on Capitol Hill, while not going along with everything, would at least give him a honeymoon period. So it must be a bit of a jolt these days for Obama to frequently find himself so out of step with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, whose tacit support of Obama's campaign was felt long before her endorsement was made official.

On nearly every major issue - from the auto bailout and the stimulus bill to tax cuts and the delicate question of whether to investigate Bush Administration officials for crimes related to torture - Pelosi has voiced and even pushed through the House differing positions from the President, at times to the embarrassment of Democrats. Obama and Pelosi each, of course, have distinct motives, and personalities: Pelosi is a partisan warrior who must tend to her caucus, while Obama got elected as a postpartisan healer, implicitly attacking the old ways of Washington and striving to appeal to a broader national base.

It's official, Obama is not fighting war on Terror, so terror is a welcome thing on US shores

If you don't fight terror, or refuse to acknowledge it exist, or to talk about, and decide to release those who are committed to kill Americans, don't be surprised when it hits.

Obama publicly announced US is no longer fighting terror - but something else - obscure. So it is my logical conclusion that if you don't fight it - you probably welcome it on US shores.

Former President George W. Bush launched his war on terror just hours after planes piloted by terrorists slammed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the Pennsylvania countryside. "America and our friends and allies join with all those who want peace and security in the world and we stand together to win the war against terrorism," he said, warning days later that, "this war on terrorism is going to take a while."

Jim Bunning, North Carolina Sen. Richard Burr, and Florida Sen. Mel Martinez. Woodhouse called the radio ads "Limbaugh themed." Right now, the group is running ads against 13 of the 41 senators, or an entire third of the GOP caucus.

Samira Jassam, 51, was arrested by Iraqi police and confessed to recruiting the women and orchestrating dozens of attacks.

In a video confession, she explained how she had mentally prepared the women for martyrdom operations, passed them on to terrorists who provided explosives, and then took the bombers to their targets.

As USA TODAY and other news media have been reporting, President Obama is nominating Republican Sen. Judd Gregg of New Hampshire to be the next Commerce secretary.

Interestingly, CQ Politics points out that in 1995 Gregg voted for legislation that would have eliminated the department he's now expected to take over. It goes on to write that:

Obama administration started with hiring 2 tax cheats, one commerce guy who quit before being reviewed because of pending investigations, a justice guy who let a tax cheat be pardoned, and Hillary Clinton which is a bag full of scandals.

Seriously, can't the Democrats find just a few leaders who aren't so obviously corrupt to help this nation at a time of need? This is a time of need - there's an economic crisis as well as a security crisis - but what are they focused on?

They're focused on contraceptives, and pork - and pork and more pork - and then to free terrorists and bend over for talks with Iran. I'm not a republican. I'll repeat - I'm not a republican. Not a democrat either. I'm a person who moved to the US with knowing very little at the beginning about American politics. I just can't figure out what drives people to continue voting for Democrats. I just can't understand it.

My only conclusion is that people who vote democrats are doing so because they don't really pay attention to the news. Scandals don't affect their state of mind. They only care when loony Clooney and the rest of the E! team choir speak and tell them that "Bush is horrible". Worse than Hitler they said.

Obama is only 2 weeks in - had done absolutely nothing but hire the worst choices for administration and made some terrifying announcements. 2 Weeks of horrifying announcement - and the only way a person can accept it is if he is rooting for America to fail while rooting for Obama to succeed.

Obama and lefties were saying these days that "Rush roots for Obama to fail", how very unpatriotic of him. "See - the right wingers aren't patriotic - they are partisans". People - I tell you, this is insane and backwards.

The left stopped Israel from completing "Cast Lead" and reoccupying Gaza. That's right, the only solution to subdue terror is to defeat it and keep those who wish to commit it under your foot - under occupation. Occupation was never the cause of terror - it was the solution to terror.

"My fiance is Israeli, and his family no longer wants to go there for the wedding. On top of that, when my mother goes to the ministry offices [in Istanbul] to try and get the marriage forms filled out, they won't help her. They won't help her because she's Jewish."

We are lucky to live in a nation which has the means and the will to provide aid when needed. Political opportunism in the wake of natural disasters are always the worst kind.

Let's hope for the best for all those who need it in KY. And damn it - this winter is cold - from here in Michigan I'm yearning for it to go away already. Where's the promised "global warming" when you need it?
